I am a higher education professional with experience in both academic and applied contexts.

I earned my Ph.D. in Education at the University of Washington. My dissertation, The Adoption and Use of Distance Education: A Mixed Methods Analysis of Organizational Change in American Colleges and Universities examines how institutional characteristics along with social, economic, and political contexts influence colleges’ and universities’ use of distance education over time.

Prior to embarking on my doctoral studies, I held various student and academic affairs positions at both public and private institutions in Washington State: the University of Washington, Western Washington University, and Pacific Lutheran University. My diverse experiences, spanning from liberal arts colleges to research universities, provided me with a comprehensive understanding of higher education operations and student support. My responsibilities included curriculum management and development, budget planning and management, operational oversight, and policy interpretation and compliance.

Before relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area during the COVID-19 pandemic, I spent almost a decade living in northern Sweden. There I worked as an instructor and research assistant at Umeå University. Most recently, I have been a project director for a funded research project at San Francisco State University. In this role, I developed and implemented evaluation frameworks, managed budgets to align with programmatic goals, supervised graduate research assistants, coordinated events, and prepared detailed, outcome-based reports for stakeholders and funding agencies.

In my free time, I find solace in nature. While I’m currently enjoying the sunny beaches and hiking opportunities that California offers, I still cherish the tranquility of long, dark winters and outdoor adventures in the snow. Beyond my love of nature, I’m also an avid fan of board games, fantasy football, sports, and speculative fiction.
